4-star Alabama RB Harold Joiner names Texas in Top 12

Will Texas intensify its pursuit after surviving Sunday’s cut?

247Sports

Just over a month after offering one of the top out-of-state running backs targets, the Texas Longhorns were named among the top 12 for Birmingham Mountain Brook (Ala.) product Harold Joiner on Sunday.

Joiner also included Alabama, Auburn, Michigan State, UCLA, Tennessee, TCU, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Baylor as the programs still in contention at this point.

A rising prospect, Joiner was ranked No. 301 nationally at the time of his April 11 Texas offer and today, the four-star running back is now up to No. 233 overall. Considering his upward trend and the in-state running back pool not being as deep as usual for the 2018 cycle, running backs coach Stan Drayton may push hard for Joiner to potentially join four-star Carthage running back Keaontay Ingram, who visited over the weekend. The Longhorns are in pole position with Ingram and widely expected to earn his commitment.

At this point, it seems likely Joiner will be remaining closer to home and playing in the SEC. LSU is currently trending favorably for Joiner’s services.

At 6’3, 218 pounds, Joiner ranks as the nation’s No. 11 running back and the No. 6 player in Alabama, per 247Sports Composite.
