While a small army of recruits are on campus to visit Tom Herman’s Texas Longhorns this weekend, Shaka Smart is hosting a key recruit of his own.
Kamaka Hepa, the No. 1 player in Oregon, has reportedly made the cross-country journey from The Great Northwest to the Forty Acres for his first visit to Texas this weekend.
A four-star product out of Portland Jefferson, prior to picking up a Texas offer last June, Hepa won back-to-back Gatorade Player of the Year honors in Alaska. In doing so, Hepa has become one of the top prospects in the northwest and to date, Hepa holds 17 offers, including USC, Arizona, Miami, Oklahoma, Oregon and Washington.
A stretch forward who can do a little bit of everything and score from all three levels, Hepa is one of just five uncommitted 2018 power forwards with a Texas offer and the lone prospect the ‘Horns appear to have a legitimate shot at landing, at this point.
At 6’9, 210 pounds, Hepa ranks as the nation’s No. 38 player and the No. 15 power forward, per 247Sports Composite
