Texas is now heavily in the mix with two targets from the Louisville-based powerhouse program.

Elite 2019 Louisville Trinity (Ky.) weak-side defensive end Stephen Herron Jr. released his top 10 on Sunday and the Texas Longhorns made the cut, along with Michigan, Stanford, Ohio State, Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Alabama.

A four-star prospect, Herron holds 17 total offers to date and despite releasing his top 10, expect programs to continue gauging the market on the No. 1 player in Kentucky throughout the next two seasons.

A defensive standout from powerhouse Louisville Trinity, Herron picked up his Texas offer on May 22. The Longhorns have since been gaining favor with Herron’s teammate and speedy 2018 wide receiver target, Rondale Moore. If Texas can manage to add Moore to its 2018 haul, it likely goes a long way towards remaining in contention with Herron as his recruitment progresses.

At 6’3.5, 235 pounds, Herron is ranked as the nation’s No. 34 player and the No 4 weak-side defensive end, per 247Sports Composite.
