One of Shaka Smart’s top targets will be on campus today after multiple reports indicate Cibolo Steele small forward Gerald Liddell is in Austin visiting the Texas Longhorns.
A four-star prospect from the San Antonio-area, Liddell has been a key target for Smart and his staff for quite some time and has already made numerous trips to the Forty Acres.
Considered one of the premier prospects in the state and the nation, the 6’6, 180-pound slasher averaged 19.7 points and 8.6 rebounds as a junior at Steele.

A versatile wing prospect, Liddell has a soft touch on an improving jump shot, although he’s not yet a consistent threat from the perimeter after spending much of his time at Steele attacking the basket and playing with his back to the basket.
He currently has a top seven consisting of Texas, Baylor, Arizona, California, Oregon, UCLA and SMU.
Liddell is ranked as the nation’s No. 35 player, No. 7 small forward and the No. 2 player in Texas, per 247Sports Composite.
