Another major piece to the puzzle is now in place as the Texas Longhorns landed a pledge from elite Houston Heights cornerback Jalen Green on Friday evening.

“The coaches bring it,” Green told 247Sports. “I like Coach (Tom) Herman and what he is doing with the program.”
A four-star prospect, Green officially visited Texas earlier this week as well on the same day he released a top five of Texas, LSU, Oregon, Penn State and Ohio State. Texas was the heavy favorite for his services then and as of Friday, the expectation that Green would ultimately join the Longhorns proved true.
Nothing short of an elite force at cornerback, Green will now ultimately join a secondary in Austin abundant with similar talent, as Texas already holds pledges from five-star safety BJ Foster, four-star safety Caden Sterns and four-star safety DeMarvion Overshown. Green also becomes the second high-level Houston-area prospect to commit to Texas in the past week, as Houston Lamar wide receiver Al’vonte Woodard pledged to the ‘Horns last Saturday.
Collectively, Texas holds 13 total commits to date and has yet another must-land now in the fold, with more likely to join in the very near future.
Green is expected to attend the Longhorns ‘Stars at Night’ recruiting event tonight.
Green is ranked as the nation’s No. 53 player, No. 9 cornerback and the No. 5 player in Texas, per 247Sports Composite.
