Texas offers 3-star ATH Vernon Jackson

The future collegiate defensive end rushed for more than 2,000 yards as a dual-threat quarterback in 2016.

One of the more intriguing prospects in the entire state is now officially on Tom Herman and his staff’s radar after Boling athlete Vernon Jackson picked up a Texas Longhorns offer on Sunday night.

A three-star prospect, Jackson is largely being recruited as a defensive end for the next level, but the ‘athlete’ label accurately describes what he brings to the table. Flip the field and Jackson serves as Boling’s dual-threat gunslinger, as he competed 57-of-97 attempts for 836 yards and six scores in 2016, along with another 2,072 yards and 33 touchdowns with his legs en route to a state title appearance.

Such versatility is why programs such as Alabama, Texas A&M, Baylor, Colorado, LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia and Florida have all extended offers, among others.

At 6’3, 240 pounds, Jackson is ranked as the nation’s No. 450 player, No. 25 athlete and the No. 62 player in Texas, per 247Sports Composite.
