Four-star Midlothian small forward Kaden Archie began the process of narrowing his collegiate options on Monday by naming a top eight and the Texas Longhorns survived the cut.
In addition to the ‘Horns, Archie listed Kansas, Virginia, Florida, SMU, TCU, Arkansas and LSU as the programs he’ll continue considering going forward.

A rising wing from just south of Dallas, Archie’s close proximity to the Forty Acres has proved fruitful for the Longhorns this offseason. On June 4, Archie unofficially visited Texas and followed that up with another unofficial visit just weeks later on June 29.
As it stands, the Longhorns are considered a frontrunner in Archie’s recruitment and currently hold four of his five Crystal Ball projections, with the other going to LSU. Likely the largest roadblock in Texas’ way going forward is that the ‘Horns already hold two pledges at the position in the form of Gerald Liddell, the state’s No. 2 player, and local Austin Westlake product, Brock Cunningham.
A 6’6, 200-pound prospect, Archie is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 104 player, No. 26 small forward and the No. 6 player in Texas, per 247Sports Composite.
