One of the Texas Longhorns top remaining targets will be in Austin in the coming weeks, as Saint Louis Lutheran North (Mo.) weak-side defensive end Ronnie Perkins will officially visit the Forty Acres when Texas hosts San Jose State on September 9, per 247Sports’ EJ Holland.
As it stands, the four-star pass rusher is just one of two weak-side defensive end options Texas still has a realistic shot at landing, along with Conroe Oak Ridge product Joseph Ossai. While the latter is considered a heavy Texas A&M lean, Perkins is projected to suit up at Oklahoma, although the Longhorns have been gaining some steam in his recruitment.

Despite boasting a class that ranks No. 2 nationally, the ‘Horns are still without a defensive end pledge after Oklahoma City Putnam City (Okla.) product Ron Tatum flipped to the Sooners in June.
Considering Ossai is likely College Station bound, the need for Perkins is magnified so expect the Texas staff to roll out the burnt orange carpet for the Missouri native in the coming weeks. Perkins was set to visit Texas on July 21, but cancelled so his official visit will mark his first trip to the Forty Acres.
As a junior, the 6’2.5, 256-pounder tallied 85 tackles and nine sacks.
Perkins is ranked as the nation’s No. 114 player, No. 5 weak-side defensive end and the No. 3 player in Missouri, per 247Sports Composite.
