Nation’s top-ranked JUCO OT Badara Traore picks up Texas offer

Texas throws its name into the mix with yet another out-of-state target.

Another day, another out-of-state offer with the latest going to the nation’s top-ranked JUCO offensive tackle, Badara Traore.

A four-star product out of ASA College in New York, Traore holds upwards of 30 offers to date, including invitations from Auburn, Oregon, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Penn State.

To date, Texas holds a pair of offensive tackle pledges in Rafiti Ghirmai and Reese Moore, but the need for an experienced option is apparent. Moore is more likely to fill a roll as a blocking tight end and with Tristan Nickelson and likely Connor Williams on their way out, the ‘Horns may need to start two fresh faces at tackle in 2018. Jean Delance, Williams’ likely replacement at left tackle, recently transferred to Florida.

Offering a prospect such as the 6-foot-8, 315-pound Traore will provide Texas with a relatively plain pitch of early playing time as an experienced option.

Traore is ranked as the nation’s No. 7 JUCO player, No. 1 offensive tackle and the No. 1 player in New York, per the 247Sports Composite.
