One of the nation’s premier 2019 prospects will be in Austin this weekend as Cuero wide receiver Jordan Whittington is set to visit Texas when the Longhorns play San Jose State, according to EJ Holland of 247Sports.
A five-star pass-catcher, Whittington recently announced a commitment date set for Oct. 1 and the Longhorns are currently in his final four, along with Texas A&M, UCLA and Florida. Texas is the projected landing spot Whittington’s with six of his eight Crystal Ball projections favoring the ‘Horns.
A two-way star among the high school ranks, Whittington does a bit of everything for Cuero. In 2016, he rushed 41 times for 336 yards and four scores and hauled in 44 receptions for 797 yards and 12 touchdowns, in addition to three more touchdowns as a returner. Whittington is also a standout at defensive back, where he recorded six interceptions and returned two for scores.
Cuero’s 2017 season is yet to begin due to Hurricane Harvey.
A 6-foot-1, 198-pound prospect, Whittington is ranked as the nation’s No. 25 player, No. 5 wide receiver and the No. 4 player in Texas, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.
