The Texas Longhorns’ stay within the top 10 was short-lived. Just hours after falling on the road to the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 38-35, the latest Associated Press Top 25 released and the Longhorns fell nine spots, dropping from No. 6 to No. 15.
Texas dropped in the Amway Coaches Poll as well, falling eight spots from No. 7 to No. 15.
One of 11 ranked teams to fall over the weekend, Texas entered Saturday’s Big 12 showdown with Oklahoma State riding a six-game winning streak, which featured three ranked wins and a perfect 4-0 mark in conference play to position Texas atop the Big 12 standings.
Now 4-1, the Longhorns are tied with No. 7 Oklahoma and No. 12 West Virginia for the best effort in the Big 12. The latter will visit the Longhorns on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT, affording Texas the opportunity to inch closer towards the top spot yet again.
Per ESPN’s FPI, Texas stands as a slight favorite over West Virginia:
- West Virginia — 50.9%
- @ Texas Tech — 40.7%
- Iowa State — 67.1%
- @ Kansas — 83.4%
