Texas set to host commits, official visitors, key targets for West Virginia game

Elite running back Noah Cain and local star receiver Elijah Higgins will be among those in attendance on Saturday.

Once again, the Texas Longhorns are set to host a multitude of commits and key targets for a major recruiting weekend; this time around, while also welcoming West Virginia for a Big 12 showdown between ranked foes.

Headlining the list is a pair of four-star prospect set for their official visits in Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy running back Noah Cain and Austin Bowie wide receiver Elijah Higgins.

Just days ago, Cain, a Baton Rouge native, was considered to be a heavy LSU lean, but the door may now be wide open for the Horns with five-star running back John Emery Jr. surging to the Tigers following his decommitment from Georgia. If Texas can improve its positioning with Cain over the weekend, it would likely help the Horns’ pursuit of Cain’s teammate and the nation’s top-ranked running back, Trey Sanders, who has Texas near, if not at the top of his list.

As far as Higgins is concerned, Texas’ on-field success and improved performance in the passing game has allowed the Longhorns to re-emerge as a very realistic option. Higgins’ trip to Texas will finish his official visit tour. He plans to announce his commitment shortly thereafter, with Stanford, Florida, and Texas as the top options.
