The Texas Longhorns took a significant step with a talented 2020 target on Tuesday, as Carrolton Ranchview athlete Michael Henderson named Texas in his top six. Florida, Nebraska, Oklahoma, SMU, and Texas A&M were named as the other teams still standing in his recruitment.

The Dallas-area standout holds 18 total offers, with Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Oregon, TCU, Washington, and Texas Tech among those excluded from his top six.

Henderson has made a pair of trips to Texas for a July 31 camp, which led to the three-star prospect netting an offer from the Longhorns, and then more recently for Texas’ 37-14 win over USC. However, his Crystal Ball currently sits heavily in favor of Oklahoma, with the Sooners owning 84 percent of his his projections.

A two-way star who plays both sides of the ball, with duties coming at quarterback on the offensive end, Henderson’s MaxPreps profile reports 520 yards and five scores through the air, though that’s coming at just a 40 percent clip. He’s also added 169 yards and three touchdowns on 40 carries.

Henderson doesn’t have any defensive stats listed, though he’s largely being recruited as a linebacker.

At 6’2, 220 pounds, Henderson is ranked as the nation’s No. 337 player, No. 26 athlete, and as the No. 41 player in Texas, per the 247Sports Composite.
