With the early signing period looming on Wednesday, Melissa wide receiver Kennedy Lewis is set to bring his recruitment to a close.
As he noted over the weekend, the three-star prospect will announce his commitment on Tuesday, in which he’ll choose from a variety of options including the Texas Longhorns, Baylor Bears, Washington Huskies, and Florida Gators.

At this point with his decision now just one day away, all the momentum appears to be with Tom Herman’s program.
Despite Baylor and Washington making late pushes of their own, which included multiple in home visits from each and official visits to Waco and Seattle on Nov. 30 and Dec. 14, respectively, it’s the Longhorns who are now considered to hold a commanding lead for the former TCU pledge. Since Saturday, 10 Crystal Ball projections have rolled in and each favor Texas, which aligns with what was the general consensus at the time of his previous planned pledge on Nov. 9, which Lewis, of course, delayed.
What changed?
The most obvious answer would be the Longhorns losing a pair of pledges from four-star receiver Demariyon Houston on Dec. 3 and four-star athlete Peyton Powell last Thursday, who’s now actually trending to Baylor, which had amassed the momentum with Lewis up until the recent days. Though Powell aimed to play quarterback, he projected as a receiver, so with his place in the class opening up, in addition to Texas likely set to miss out on four-star Austin Bowie receiver Elijah Higgins, the Longhorns have an opening at receiver and Lewis looks to be the most likely option.
We’ll see on Tuesday if the picks now projecting that to prove true comes to pass.
At 6’3, 190 pounds, Lewis is ranks as the nation’s No. 84 receiver and as the No. 77 player in Texas, per the 247Sports Composite.
