Elite Lousiana CB Derek Stingley schedules Texas official visit

Arguably the top cornerback in the country will officially visit Texas in the coming weeks.

One of the Texas Longhorns top targets will soon tour the Forty Acres.

Derek Stingley, a five-star cornerback out of Baton Rouge (La.) Dunham School, has scheduled an official visit to Texas for May 4, per a report from Horns247.

The elite defensive back named Texas in his top six in March, along with Michigan, Florida, Georgia, Stanford, and LSU, but the home-state Tigers are considered the overwhelming favorite in Stingely’s recruitment. In fact, along with LSU holding all 11 of his Crystal Ball projections, Stingley named LSU as the favorite on the same day he released his top six.

With that in mind, it’s clear that the Longhorns have their work cut out for them with the nation’s No. 2 cornerback prospect.

Stingley has visited Texas earlier this spring, and of course, there’s interest, but the Longhorns will almost surely need to blow Stingley away during his official visit to truly have a chance at luring the Louisiana native away from home.

Stingley is ranked as the nation’s No. 20 overall prospect and the No. 2 cornerback, per 247Sports Composite.
