One of the nation’s top 2020 defensive backs is now officially on the Texas Longhorns radar.
Jaylon Jones, a four-star cornerback out of Cibolo Steele, arrived in Austin on Sunday for a Texas mini-camp and left with a Longhorns offer in hand, he announced on Twitter.
A rising prospect, Jones has also added offers from Texas A&M, Houston, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Colorado, and Texas State since late January.
Since earning his Texas offer on Sunday evening, two Crystal Ball projections have already rolled in picking Jones to ultimately join his former Steele teammate Caden Sterns in Austin. In addition to his most recent trip up I-35 for the Longhorns mini-camp, Jones unofficially visited the Forty Acres earlier this spring.
He now becomes just the fourth 2020 cornerback to pick up a Texas offer.
At 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, Jones is a long, athletic coverage corner who can excel when left alone on an island. He utilized this skill set to the tune of 31 tackles, two interceptions and two pass breakups as a sophomore in what was a loaded Steele secondary. He's only continue to impress this spring throughout the 7-on-7 circuit with Houston-based KB3, and at various camps.
Jones is ranked as the nation's No. 187 player, the No. 15 cornerback and as the No. 19 player in Texas, per the 247Sports Composite.
