2020 Houston North Forest wide receiver Demond Demas is owner to 48 offers and on Friday morning, the five-star prospect trimmed that list to a top eight.
The Texas Longhorns survived the cut, along with Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma.

Eight schools may remain, but at this point, Demas’ recruitment is shaping up to be a three-horse race between in-state foes Texas and Texas A&M, and Alabama. The latter holds the lead at this point, with Texas trailing and Texas A&M running third, Demas said following his trip to the Forty Acres for the Longhorns Heat Wave pool party.
Accompanying Demas during that trip from Houston was teammate and key Texas target, four-star offensive tackle Javonne Shepherd. The Longhorns are Shepherd’s outright leader at this point and considering that he and Demas have discussed playing together in college, sealing the deal with Shepherd can go a long way towards ultimately landing the top-ranked wide receiver in Texas.
Ranked No. 25 nationally and No. 2 in Texas, per the 247Sports Composite, Demas also unofficially visited the Forty Acres for the spring game and again in mid-May.
Texas owns one of his Crystal Ball projections, while the other two favor Texas A&M.
