After receiving an offer from Shaka Smart just weeks ago on May 2, explosive Fayetteville (N.C.) Trinity Christian School small forward Greg Gantt Jr. included the Texas Longhorns in his final nine on Monday.
Florida, Clemson, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Providence, and Vanderbilt were noted as Gantt’s other finalists.
Rated as a four-star prospect, Gantt owns 27 total offers to date, and his list left programs such as Cincinnati, DePaul, Ole Miss, Virginia, and Xavier on the outside looking in. Gantt’s only Crystal Ball projection is in favor of Virginia Tech, and, of course, he cut the Hokies from consideration, as well.
An athletic wing who thrives attacking the basket, Gantt averaged 10.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.6 blocks as a junior, and more notably, he did so on a roster abundant with talent. Last season, Gantt shared the spotlight with Duke signee Joey Baker, as well as Pitt commit Au;Diese Toney. With each of those two headed for the ACC, Gantt is primed for a significant step forward in the productivity department as a senior.
Listed at 6-foot-7, 195 pounds, Gantt is ranked as the nation’s No. 57 player, the No. 15 small forward, and as the No. 4 player in North Carolina, per the 247Sports Composite.
