Columbus (Oh.) St. Francis De Sales defensive tackle Rodas Johnson arrived in Austin on Friday for the Texas Longhorns major recruiting weekend and will head home with an offer in hand, as first reported by The Football Brainiacs.
With Texas putting an offer on the table, Johnson becomes just the fourth 2019 defensive tackle to earn an invitation from the Longhorns. Top-ranked defensive tackle Amrite star Ishmael Sopsher is still considering Texas, as is elite Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis standoutFaatui Tuitele. Fellow four-star standout DeMarvin Leal is currently committed to Texas A&M, but the Longhorns are still in pursuit of the Converse Judson product.
As far as Johnson’s recruitment, the 6’3, 285-pounder holds 26 total offers, with invitations stemming from Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma, among others. The Badgers hold the early edge, per Johnson’s Crystal Ball after Wisconsin hosted him for his first official visit on June 15.
Johnson is ranked as the nation’s No. 299 player, No. 17 defensive tackle, and as the No. 7 player in Ohio, per the 247Sports Composite.
