After notching an offer from Texas on Friday evening following the Longhorns’ Stars at Night camp, Orlando (Fla.) Jones outside linebacker Marcus Tillman Jr. has announced his commitment to Tom Herman’s program.

“Coach Orlando is real,” Tillman told 247Sports EJ Holland. “He tells you how and what it’s going to be, and his style fits me playing on the edge.”

A former Florida pledge, Tillman reopened his recruitment on Jan. 17, although the Gators did remain in the mix and hosted Tillman for an unofficial visit on April 14. Clemson, Ohio State, and North Carolina each welcomed Tillman for visits since this offseason as well, and in addition to each of the aforementioned programs, Tillman also holds offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Virginia Tech, among others.

In committing to Texas less than 24 offers after notching his offer, Tillman joins elite Westlake (Calif.) Village star De’Gabriel Floyd as the Longhorns’ linebacker takes thus far this cycle, although Maninoa Tufono, David Gbenda, and Rain Davis are each still major targets.

Per his ESPN profile, which has Tillman ranked as high as a four-star prospect, the Longhorns’ latest pledge recorded a 4.85 40-yard dash, a 4.30 20-yard shuttle, and a 35-inch vertical leap.

Listed at 6’1, 220 pounds, Tillman is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 410 player and as the No. 22 outside linebacker, per the 247Sports Composite.

With Tillman now on board, the Longhorns’ 2019 class is up to 14 members, and ranks No. 11 nationally and No. 2 in the Big 12, per the 247Sports Composite. Half of the ‘Horns class hails from outside of the state.
