4-star PF Malik Hall names Texas in final 5

The Longhorns are one of five teams still in the mix with four-star Kansas power forward Malik Hall.

One of Shaka Smart’s top 2019 targets is down to just five finalists and the Texas Longhorns are still firmly in the mix.

On Saturday, Wichita (Kan.) Sunrise Christian power forward Malik Hall trimmed his list of 28 options to only a a handful of finalists and the Longhorns survived the cut, along with Purdue, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Michigan State.

Others including Kansas, Louisville, and Villanova, however, are now left to look elsewhere after serving as some more of the more notable names in Hall’s recruitment.

Hall has noted Texas as a team that’s pressing as hard as any program in the country, and he’s previously said that Smart is the only head coach who’s called him on FaceTime. That emphasis and attention to detail has allowed the Longhorns to emerge as a finalist, which is especially notable considering he’s yet to visit the Forty Acres, while a team such as Kansas was excluded despite multiple visits.

Now a finalist, the Longhorns are quite likely in line to receive an official visit in the event that the four-star forward doesn’t announce his commitment prior to that point. Hall doesn’t currently have a commitment date scheduled.

Listed at 6’7, 190 pounds, Hall is ranked as the nation’s No. 68 player, No. 16 power forward, and as the No. 2 player in Kansas, per the 247Sports Composite.
