Texas targets react to the Longhorns 28-21 Sugar Bowl win over No. 5 Georgia

Texas impressed on a national stage, and several key recruits took notice.

There were a number of offered prospects and potential targets that had their eyes glued to the television for the Sugar Bowl matchup against SEC power Georgia on Tuesday night. Many of these key prospects were in awe of how the Longhorns were able to handle the Bulldogs.

Burnt Orange Nation caught up with numerous prospects following the huge victory. Here’s what they had to say:

2020 —Logan Parr — 4-star OG — O’Connor — Texas commit: “The win against Georgia says a lot about what Coach Herman has done for the program and that we are only going up from here!”

2020 — Bryson Washington — 4-star S — C.E. King: “It was great game, but I knew UT might’ve taken the dub as soon as Bevo charged Georgia’s mascot (lol).”

2020 — Chad Lindberg — 4-star OT — Clear Creek: “The Sugar Bowl showcased Texas’ biggest win of the season and best play of the season. Good win against what I think is the second best team in college football.”

2020 — Jake Majors — 3-star OT — Prosper: “Just like Sam said, “They’re back!” Just fired up for seeing Coach Herman and the Longhorns win a New Year’s Six Bowl game and it being a huge step for them! Very appealing for me as a recruit!”

2021 — Reuben Fatheree —4-star OT — Katy Taylor: “Dominated on both sides of the ball for four quarters.”

2021 — Bryce Foster — 4-star OT — Katy Taylor: “Bevo set the tone (lol), but coach Hand impressed me. His crew completely dominated. No wonder he’s one of the best coaches in the nation.”

2020 — Jerrin Thompson — 4-star S — Lufkin: “Texas just outplayed them boys.”

2021 — Shadrach Banks — 4-star WR/ATH — North Shore: “It was a great win and I think they had a great game plan. They showed everyone how good they really are.”

2020 — Troy Omeire — 4-star WR — Fort Bend Austin: “Great win. Receiver’s made plays and defense made plays.”

2020 — Darius Snow — 4-star S — Hebron: “That’s what I call a momentum grabber, at the right time too. I’d expect to hear a lot about Texas come this off-season up until next season, and I’m excited to see them grow.”

2020 — Kelvontay Dixon — 3-star ATH — Carthage: “It was a sweet victory for Texas.”

2020 — Brennon Scott — 4-star OLB — Bishop Dunne: “I felt like Texas wanted to win it more and Sam played a big part into that win. I felt Georgia came in to confident because they play in the SEC but Texas showed them they can hang.”

2021 — Donovan Jackson — 4-star OT — Bellaire Episcopal: “It was definitely a surprise. This was the type of win that coach Herman needed to show that Texas is here to stay. This gives me more to think about.”

2021 — Hayden Conner — 4-star OT — Katy Taylor: “Amazing win and will definitely open some eyes on what Texas is building. Happy for Coach Hand, Elijah and the o-line and everything they’ve accomplished this year.”

2021 — Latrell Neville — Unranked WR — Willowridge: “Last night Texas showed they can compete against the SEC.”

2021 — Tunmise Adeleye — Unranked SDE — Katy Tompkins: “The game was a peek into what’s to come the next couple of years out of Texas they proved to me that they can hang with and beat SEC teams which is what you’ll need to win a national championship”

2021 — JoJo Earle — Unranked WR — Aledo: “I really loved how Texas played everyone, stayed positive, cool and collected, and acted like the score was 0-0. They kept playing at a top level. The offense played at a high level.”

2020 — Xavion Alford — 3-star S — Shadow Creek: “I think Texas is back. Tom Herman is building something special. I feel like in the next 5 years they will appear in the Natty.”

2021 — Dematrius Davis — Unranked QB — North Shore: “Them boys cold!”
