One of the state’s more intriguing prospects as of late made his way to Austin for Junior Day and received an offer from the Texas Longhorns. This time around, however, Aldine MacArthur cornerback Joshua Eaton’s offer was revealed rather differently than your normal Twitter post. Eaton’s trainer and 7v7 coach, Ro Simon Jr., posted on Twitter how cornerbacks coach Jason Washington presented Eaton with a scholarship opportunity

You could easily label Eaton the hottest recruit coming out of the Houston-area this month, after a number of high-major programs are now lobbying for his talents. Eaton has earned a total of 14 offers in February alone with invitations arriving from from schools such as Florida, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, TCU, Utah, and Virginia Tech.
Eaton is now the 10th cornerback in this cycle to receive an offer from the Horns. Half of the prospects at the position that hold a Texas offer reside in the Lone Star State, and the staff is extremely familiar with recruiting in-state secondary players, especially in the Houston-area.
Per The Football Brainiacs’ Will Bazier, Eaton will be back in Austin for another visit in the coming weeks.
If you take a look at Eaton and analyze the type of player he is, you’ll see someone that embodies what Herman and his staff want at that cornerback position. Eaton is a long, rangy kid with tremendous speed and has receiver like ball skills. His big-play ability on the defensive side of the ball makes him a high commodity at the moment and could potentially take him to even greater heights as a gridiron standout.
At 6’2, 175 pounds, Eaton is currently unranked at the moment, according to 247Sports Composite, but that will likely soon change.
