Texas targets recap Longhorns Junior Day

The Longhorns Junior Day was once again a considerable success.

Dozens of prospects from around the state and the nation flocked to the Forty Acres over the weekend for the Texas Longhorns Junior Day. Burnt Orange Nation caught up with several of those in attendance to get their thoughts on the overall experience.

2020

  • Dwight McGlothern — 5-star CB — Cedar Hill Trinity Christian: “My Texas visit was good. Had a good time with the staff and talking with coach Washington about how they do things and getting closer to him.”
  • Bryson Washington — 4-star S — C.E. King: “It was pretty good. That visit was more for my mom, because she hasn’t been on tours with me. She loved it. My mom thinks it’s a great school.”
  • Xavion Alford — 3-star S — Pearland Shadow Creek: “I would say Texas definitely rolled out the red carpet for me today on my visit. I really enjoy being in Austin. Its just a fun place to be in. It’s all love throughout the campus. Coach Naviar and I have a very close relationship, along with Micheal Huff. Also I have lots of ties up there with Jordan Whittington, [Anthony] Cook, Jay Green, BJ Foster, and D’Shawn Jamison. I was with those guys so we were just chilling. Me and Coach Herman talked and he made it clear that I am a premium player in the 2020 class, and that I’m a key piece to winning a natty.”
  • Ryan Watts III — 3-star CB — Little Elm: “It’s was a great visit , one to be put on top of them all for sure!”
  • Jahari Rogers — 3-star ATH — Arlington: “Went really well, better than I expected.”
  • Tahj Brooks — 3-star RB — Manor: “It went good. I really like that I had a good conversation with coach Oscar Giles and the Running backs coach, Stan Drayton. I like how the junior day was overall and Coach Herman is a great guy.”
  • Corey Flagg — 3-star ILB — Houston North Shore: “I really enjoyed the visit, I had an amazing time. Me and coach Todd Orlando talked football all day long. We were in the film room and I love what they bring to the table. I also spoke with Tyus Browser, so it was a great experience and I’m definitely interested.”
  • Jo Jo Wilson — 3-star CB — Houston North Shore: “It was amazing! I’ll definitely be back.”
  • Braedon Nutter — 3-star OL/DT — Tomball Memorial: “I had a great time at UT yesterday. Always a fun time visiting UT for camps & games. Was able to talk to both Coach Giles & Coach Hand. Giles has been evaluating me for defensive line for awhile now and since I will be transitioning back to offensive line next season, coach Hand is evaluating me and said that he would be by in the spring to watch me. This was my seventh visit to UT in three years. I’ve been attending camps there every summer and have been invited to & attended several games the last two years.”
  • D’Aunte Prevost — 2-star RB — Arlington Bowie: “I really like the atmosphere at UT, and how the coaches care about their players . It feels like home. I’m planning on visiting in the spring again.”
  • Devin Grant — Unranked WDE — San Antonio Antonian: “It was a great experience, definitely one of the best programs in the country.”
  • Caleb Fox — Unranked DT — The Woodlands: “My visit with Texas was great. They have a great coaching staff and some of the best facilities I’ve seen. Me, Coach Giles and Coach Hand are most definitely going to stay in touch and I can’t wait for the spring game!”
  • Ta’Shoyn Johnson — Unranked DT — Killeen: “UT is everything you could ever want. Being from Texas, it’s everyone’s dream. Visiting put an extra fire behind me to go even harder.”
  • Abner Dunbar — Unranked S — Anna: “I had a great time today. The campus and facilities were unbelievable, I most definitely will be coming to visit again.”
  • Cameron Peters — Unranked QB — Fort Bend Dulles: “It was a very good experience! I had fun learning new things and meeting the coaches.”

2021

  • Shadrach Banks — 4-star ATH — North Shore: I had a great time this weekend. It was the best time I’ve had since going there. I think it’s because all of the other times I went there, I didn’t have an offer. But this time I went I had the offer and I feel more comfortable being there. I feel more at home.”
  • Tunmise Adeleye — Unranked SDE — Katy Tompkins: “UT always feels like home when I come. Junior Day today gave me the ability to ask some of the players I’ve developed relationships with like Keondre, Peter, and Moro in-depth questions about the university and what they like about it.”
  • Latrell Neville — Unranked WR — Missouri City Willowridge: “Amazing as usual, always feel like home.”
  • Tommy Brockermeyer — Unranked OT — Fort Worth All Saints Episcopal: “My Texas visit was awesome. Always love spending time down there in Austin and seeing all the coaches.”
  • Cody Jackson — Unranked WR — Richmond Foster: “My latest visit was awesome. They offered me and I got closer to the coaches. I really liked it.”
  • Dametrious Crownover — Unranked WDE — Grandview: “It was fun. I like how the coaches were involved and how they went over stuff with us.”
  • Jaedon Wilson — Unranked WR — Cedar Hill: “It’s always great to visit Texas, feels like family. Coach told me he will be up this spring to get a better evaluation of me. I’m just gonna keep working hard hopefully I will earn an offer.”
  • Jacoby Jackson — Unranked OT — Arlington Mansfield Summit: “It was a great experience. I got to talk to Coach Herb, the offensive line coach. They seem really interested and I would love to come back soon. It was an overall great visit.”
  • JD Coffey — Unranked WR — Kennedale: I enjoyed looking at UT’s equipment and facilities. It was an amazing experience. Thanks to Coach Naiver for the invite!”
  • Marcus Burris — Unranked WDE — Texarkana Pleasant Grove: “My visit was great. It was something that I have never experienced before, and I was thankful for the opportunity.”
  • Kavian Gaither — Unranked CB/S — Waco Connally: “Texas’ junior day was a very eye-opening experience for me and it was great being able to meet and talk to the safeties coach, Coach Naivar.”
  • Kaidon Salter — Unranked QB — Cedar Hill: “Texas was great. Loved the people and all the coaches that was there today. Treated us like we were already students on the campus. Also loved the weight room and I also think that that’s the best looking weight room I’ve seen from all the colleges I visited throughout my years . I loved the stadium and everything . Texas will most definitely be a top school that I will be looking at throughout the rest of my recruiting process!”
  • Samari Collier — Unranked QB — Desoto: “The visit was amazing! I enjoyed the facilities and the coaches. I expect to go back soon”
  • Adonis Armstrong —Unranked QB — Desoto: “This visit was full of “wows”. The stuff they had in their facilities, from the weight room, to locker room. Talking with the coaches, everything was amazing. One of the best I’ve ever seen.”
  • Behren Motor — Unranked QB — Eastland: “It was good. Had an awesome day at Texas. The coaches were very informative. I learned a ton about why texas is so special. I look forward to developing relationships with the coaching staff and seeing where the recruiting process goes!”

2022

  • Quinn Ewers — Unranked QB — Southlake Carroll: “The visit was great. I learned a lot about what they are putting into the stadium and the athletics. It should be really nice within the next few years.”
  • Jaydon Wannstedt — Unranked DT — Saint Peters (Mo.) Lutheran of St Charles County: “Blown Away! These bulls are playing no games. Loved my junior day visit. Learned so much and want to experience UT more. I’ll be back to catch a game.”
  • Keithian Alexander — Unranked DT — Terrell: “It was very informative. I had a great time with coach Giles , and the rest of the staff!”
  • Jaidan Scott — Unranked S — Houston North Shore: “My visit to Texas went great. I loved it. It was a very great experience and learned a lot of new things.”
  • Bryce Anderson — Unranked ATH — Beaumont West Brook: “It was my second visit there and both times I loved it. Coach Huff showed a lot of love and Coach Naivar too. I just love Texas”
  • Denver Harris — Unranked DB — Houston North Shore: “My unofficial visit to UT was an outstanding experience for my family an I. We really enjoyed everything about the the entire school. Also, Coach Washington taught me a few things and made me feel at home!”
