Texas targets and potential prospects react to Orange-White spring game

The Longhorns hosted a small army of prospects over the weekend and they received rave reviews afterwards.

On Saturday evening, the Texas Longhorns spring session culminated with the annual Orange-White spring game. Along with a ton of fans, alumni, and former players in attendance, a multitude of Longhorn commits, targets, and potential targets from the 2020, 2021, and 2022 classes were on hand.

Burnt Orange Nation was able to catch up with a few of these prospects, here are some of their reactions:

2020

  • Bijan Robinson — 5-star RB — Tucson (Az.) Salpointe Catholic: “It was great. I loved it there. All the people were amazing and just the vibe of everything was great. I loved all the coaches, they brought us in with great hospitality. And just all the great people I talked to and got advice from.”
  • Logan Parr — 4-star OG — Helotes O’Connor — Texas commit: “Had a great time spending the day with all the commits and Chad along with Vernon. We got closer as friends and I can’t wait to be a Longhorn. Hopefully Chad and Vernon felt the same way as I did and know where they need to commit to.
  • Jaylen Garth — 4-star OT — Port Neches-Groves — Texas commit: “Really enjoyed being there with the other recruits and I got to know some of them better.”
  • Jahari Rogers — 4-star ATH — Arlington: “It was AMAZING.”
  • Vernon Broughton — 4-star DT — Houston Cy Ridge: “It was fun. Just hanging with crew, Chad [Lindberg], Jake [Majors], Logan [Parr], and all them — playing pool and watching the spring game.”
  • Brennon Scott — 4-star OLB — Dallas Bishop Dunne: “It was live. Atmosphere was great and defense played amazing. Definitely will want to see how much Texas will improve this upcoming season.”
  • Xavion Alford — 4-star CB — Pearland Shadow Creek: “Texas was great. I love the atmosphere in ATX and the fans are one of a kind. I interacted with a lot of people. Coach Naviar is a real dude, and I love how he coaches. I could really see myself playing for him. Texas always lays out the red carpet for me, and they make it clear that I am one of the key pieces for this 2020 class. I love Texas and will be back up May 4th. I also spent a lot of time with Micheal Huff and Earl Thomas. They are some dudes who were influential yesterday and made the day fun.”
  • Tahj Brooks — 3-star RB — Manor — Tulsa commit: “It was great. Coach Stan Drayton and coach Tom Herman treated me great like I was at home. It felt good and I had fun at the spring game. I also got to talk to Keaontay Ingram.”
  • Robert Wooten — 3-star WDE — Stafford: “Gave me a great picture of what I’ll be doing in a year.”
  • Frank Brown — 3-star APB — Houston Sterling: “It’s one of the best places to visit. You know? Like the atmosphere itself is exciting and the fans are wonderful man. The love and hospitality there was great. I’ll definitely be back there. I had a wonderful time. The coaches and the players made it even better.”
  • Joshua Eaton — 3-star CB — Houston Aldine MacArthur: “Phenomenal!”
  • De’Quavion Thomas — 3-star RB — Cibolo Steele: “It was an amazing atmosphere. I really loved it. From the fans, coaches, and players, the vibe was just amazing.”
  • Jordyn Morgan — 3-star S — SA Cornerstone Christian: “My experience at Texas was great. The atmosphere was breathtaking. I can’t wait to come back during the season.”
  • Chidera Umeh — Unranked SDE — Houston St. Thomas: “The atmosphere is crazy, it’s just different there. The fans, people, and the coaches. Now I know why they say “This Is Texas”

2021

  • Hayden Conner — 4-star OT — Katy Taylor: “It was great to get back on campus and see coach Hand. Excited for the future of the Longhorns with the young talent that they have.”
  • Reuben Fatheree — 4-star OT — Richmond Foster: “Had a good time visiting with Coach Hand. The atmosphere for the spring game was incredible.”
  • Hunter Washington — 4-star CB — Katy: “Texas was the best visit out of all the visits I’ve been on. It just felt like home to me personally. I could get use to the atmosphere at Texas.”
  • Brandon Campbell — 4-star RB — Pearland: “Everything I expected from my childhood favorite school. I’m going to remember them down the line.”
  • JD Coffey — 4-star S — Kennedale: “The spring game was a great experience and I really enjoyed watching the defense work together. Watching the DBs play aggressive and control the field was very interesting to watch.”
  • Clayton Smith — 4-star OLB — Texarkana Texas High: “The energy there is something I could get used to. The food and facilities are amazing and they’ve got the best weight room I’ve ever seen.”
  • Latrell Neville — Unranked WR — Missouri City Willowridge: “Always a great time in Austin. A real nice program with great football and great education. A visit you could never get tired of going on.”
  • James Brockermeyer — Unranked OL — Fort Worth All Saints Episcopal: “The environment at the game was really good and we got to spend some quality time with the coaches as well. It was also pretty cool to see Luke play in DKR!”
  • Kavian Gaither — Unranked CB — Waco Connally: “I really enjoy the atmosphere and the tradition of Longhorn football. It was great watching some of the upcoming new talent.”
  • Darius Hale — Unranked RB — Houston Dobie: “The spring game was great. I loved the atmosphere and Texas has the best fans I’ve been around.”
  • Bronson McClelland — Unranked QB — Katy: “Texas really is a great experience every time I go. I love it there and Texas has been in my blood since I was born. My mom graduated from UT and it really feels special every time I’m there.”
  • Caleb Mendez — Unranked K — Pearland: “Being on the field surrounded by the coaches and players, you can feel the intensity in the atmosphere. After my visit at UT for the spring game, I would love to be back for another visit.”

2022

  • Jamarion Miller — Unranked RB — Robert E Lee: “It was amazing! I love the atmosphere there, everyone was so kind and friendly. Interacting with everyone and watching the game definitely gave me something to look forward to!”
