Just weeks after Texas presented Iowa Western C.C. defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey with an offer, the JUCO product named the Longhorns in his top eight on Sunday afternoon. Joining Texas as Winfrey’s top teams are Oregon, Nebraska, Penn State, Oklahoma, Florida State, Alabama, and LSU.

In addition to Texas, Alabama, Penn State, and Florida State are fairly fresh entrants into his recruitment, offering within the past month.

Thus far, Winfrey has collected 20 offers, so his list cut eliminated programs such as Baylor, Tennessee, Miami, Kentucky, and Arizona, to name a few.

Currently an unranked prospect, the 6’4, 305-pound Winfrey is one of eight defensive tackles with a Texas offer in hand; a position in which Houston Cy Ridge star Vernon Broughton is the priority prospect.

During his debut season with Iowa Western C.C., which saw him team up with Texas offensive tackle signee Willie Tyler, the Illinois native totaled 27 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and four sacks.
