Over the weekend, Tom Herman’s program became just the latest to jump into the mix with elite 2021 Steilacoom (Wa.) athlete Emeka Egbuka, who took to Twitter on Saturday to announce an offer from the Texas Longhorns.

With the Longhorns throwing their name into the hat, Egbuka’s offer total now sits at 27, as Texas joins Alabama, Washington, Ohio State, LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, and USC, just to name a select few.

247Sports Brandon Huffman detailed what it is that makes Egbuka such a coveted talent:

“Has elite size and strength to go with speed. Plays to his size and shows good physicality. An elite two-way prospect, he answered any questions about his speed with a 4.4 laser time at the All-American Combine. Tremendous body control, can adjust to any throw, going up and getting in traffic. A physical and aggressive runner after the catch and elusive in the open field. Also a stellar return specialist. Projects as immediate Power 5 starter and future first-round NFL draft pick.”

Though his versatility has led to Egbuka being listed as an athlete, Egbuka likely projects as a wide receiver at the Power 5 level. To that end, last season, Egbuka utilized his 4.42 40-yard dash speed and dynamic ability in the open field to amass 1,492 yards and 23 touchdowns on just 72 receptions, per his MaxPreps profile. A two-way talent, Egbuka also stars in the secondary for Steilacoom, where he totaled 29 tackles and eight interceptions.

A 6’1, 190-pound prospect, Egbuka is ranked as the nation’s No. 1 athlete and as the No. 13 player overall, per 247Sports.
