A recent surge on the recruiting trail continued on Sunday as 2021 quarterback Jalen Milroe announced his commitment to the Texas Longhorns via Twitter.

The dual-threat quarterback from Katy Tompkins is currently the No. 3 player at his position, as well as the No. 74 player overall, per the 247Sports Composite. The 6’1.5, 194-pound quarterback started as a sophomore for the Falcons, passing for more than 1,400 yards and 10 touchdowns, while adding another 600 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

During the 2019 camp tour, Milroe tested well, turning in a 4.69 40-yard dash and a 4.38 shuttle time.

His relationship with the Longhorns accelerated quickly, with just six weeks between offer and commitment. After camping with Texas on June 16, Milroe received his offer from offensive coordinator Tim Beck that same day. Shortly thereafter, he returned for the pool party on June 21 and released his top eight schools in early July, committing before the month was over.

He was highly coveted among top programs in the country, holding offers from 17 D1 programs including the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Texas A&M Aggies.

Milroe is just the third member of what could potentially be a massive haul for the Longhorns in 2021, joining Dallas Skyline receiver Quay Davis and Lake Travis tight end Lake McRee for the current No. 4 recruiting class nationally.
