Imposing 4-star OLB Prince Dorbah commits to Texas

Texas picked up its second pledge of the day in the form of Dallas Highland Park star edge rusher Prince Dorbah.

SB Nation: Joe Hamilton

The Dallas-to-Austin movement remains alive and well, as imposing Dallas Highland Park outside linebacker Prince Dorbah is now the latest to announce his pledge to the Texas Longhorns.

Arkansas, LSU, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State were named as finalists, as well, and USC looked to make a bit of a late push after getting Dorbah on campus for an unofficial visit. If one were to make a case for a runner-up, LSU is the likely pick, but Dorbah’s recruitment has long trended in favor of the Longhorns.

Beyond telling Burnt Orange Nation in March that Texas was the team most involved in his recruitment, Dorbah has been a frequent presence on the Forty Acres and utilized his lone reported official visit on a return trip to Austin on June 14.

A 6’2.5, 208-pound product, Dorbah fits the mold of your modern-day hybrid edge rusher, and he’s as productive as any prospect at his position across the country. As a junior, Dorbah’s efforts were paramount in Dallas Highland Park’s success, as he amassed 92 total tackles, and mind-boggling totals elsewhere with 36 tackles for loss, 20 sacks, and 19 quarterback hurries while guiding the Scots to their third consecutive Class 5A Division I state championship.

He projects as a B-Backer in Todd Orlando’s defense.

With Dorbah in the fold, Tom Herman’s 2020 class is up to eight members; all of whom hail from the Lone Star State.
