Yet another highly-ranked defensive back remains high on the Longhorns.

Texas’ 2020 class already features pledges from five four-star defensive backs, but the Longhorns remain in the mix with yet another, as Spring Klein Oak cornerback Dwight McGlothern included Texas in his top five on Tuesday evening, along with Arkansas, Oregon, Georgia, and LSU.

A notable exclusion is Texas A&M, as the Aggies, which hold just one cornerback commitment to date in the form of Maryland product Joshua Moten, were once considered a favorite for the four-star talent. As far as Texas is concerned, there hasn’t been much public buzz between the two sides throughout the summer, but McGlothern has made multiple visits to Austin throughout his recruitment.

As it currently stands, Texas appears set at the cornerback position this cycle with commitments from Ethan Pouncey, Kitan Crawford, and Joshua Eaton, which seemingly indicates that a late addition from McGlothern is unlikely.

As noted in his Twitter announcement, McGlothern plans to announce his commitment at the Adidas All-American game in San Antonio on Jan. 4, 2020.

McGlothern is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 273 player overall and as the No. 22 cornerback, per the 247Sports Composite.
